Wicked was Wonderful! 

I had not read the book or heard much from the press, so most everything about this musical masterpiece was a pleasant surprise.  The story was incredible and kept building just as strongly as the music did through nearly three hours of audience’s oohs and ‘oz.’

The vocals were amazing and the songs were all original and new with not a trace of a rainbow way up there.   We were lucky enough to have Megan Hilty as 'Glinda' and Eden Espinosa as 'Elphaba' who previously performed the roles on Broadway.  I especially enjoyed “The Wizard and I,” "Defying Gravity" and “For Good”.   The later tune was particularly heartrending with its poignant lyrics “people come into our lives for a reason.”

This musical journey did include a trip down the yellow brick road along with several characters and references to the beloved film “The Wizard of Oz,” but this story was not centered on a farm girl from Kansas.  “Wicked” is about the Witches of Oz, starting with the birth of a little green baby girl and another who rides in a bubble.

You must see the play to learn more as I believe the experience of hearing and seeing this story unfold in front of your eyes … and ears… is a truly magical encounter not to be missed.
